2 pieces of plexi glass. one velcro one bolted (that was a pain!) 200$ and 2 days. i had no idea what i was doing and have never done anything like this befor i didnt even have my boyfriend help! i love how it came out. i just need some fake plants now! and my male is getting some meat on him now. i got him 2 days ago skin and bones! |

Angus’ cage is going on 2 months now LOL but very limited budget and only one day off a week to work on it... I would work on it but Dave wont let me without his help.... lol..... last time I tried helping with Diego’s cage when he was gone... he got mad.... but he takes a lot of pride in the things he builds and wants to do it all himself... ugh men... |

after all that work though, they still rub their lil nosies. i even put a strip of carpet up against the bottom. that doesnt really stop them though :( maybe i’ll just get vines and plants.... but i am sure they will find a new place to rub their nose btw. my female likes jumping off the top most of the tank to the bottom..... i assume she can really hurt herself..... probably shelving would be a good idea closer to the top.... |

the plywood is pressbored. its 1/2 inch but i should have gotten 3/4 or 1’’ because of the screws depth. sides, 24x60 back, 2-24x48 (changed my mind from previous plans but parts worked together) front, 2-24x48 plexy glass bottom, 24x49.5 1’’ pressbored shelfs, 23x9 and 23x6 (use more brackets) screen, thickets aluminum screen they got. i spent 8 bux on a roll.48’’x80’’ strips of wood, go to door isle and look at edging, filler bored, and trim. find something 1’’x1.5’’ or better and make sure its not to expencive! hardware: 2’’ brackets about 20, 5/8 self tapping hex screws one box with washer and rubber gasket(blue box), outdoor carpet (15$ home depo) staple gun with longest sharp tipped stables, walmart has velcrow strips in crafts section and paint section near the tape. i used 6 feet at around 5 bux. word of advice. be very carefull with plexi glas, i’ve shatterd edges and corners and cracked it by over torquing the screws and hitting it with staple gun |

I was waondering if thats the case could you sandwhich some outdoor carpet in between the plexi ....kinda like make a washer?/ would that still allow it to be bolted to the side? Still nice ...and plenty of room for upgrades too... |

Ok we made 2 vivs, 1 is 6ft H x 4ft L x 2ft W the other is 4ft H x 4ft L x 2ft W. We started with a pre-cut 2ft x 4ft piece of oak and then built the frame up from it, screwing the 2 x 4’s in place from the bottom. We the measured and cut hardboard (with a water proof laminate over it) to fit into the back and sides. We then used 1 x 2’s and built the front frame and top frame, including a door where we wanted it on the front, using 1 x 2’s for the door frame as well. We then pulled pet resistant screening from the bottom and up covering the top and stapled it into place and then cut the edges and cut out the door. It was very simple and easy and only cost us about $70 per viv. We got the 2x4s, 1x2s, oak, hardboard with water proof laminate, pet proof screen, hinges, locks, doorknobs, srews, and outdoor carpeting at Home Depot, Lowes has almost the same stuff but there’s not much of a price difference. Here’s some pics.

87rx7chick: petco sells them at that price but if you look in the bird section for like parrots they have them cheaper.... I also have a family owned type of pet store down here small time but they have extremely good prices I got a 4ft branch for $6 compared to the same one for $30 at petco lol You can also use ones from outside if they are sanitized. Not pine nor cedar. Soak and scrub it in a water bleach solution then rinse it rinse it again until no more bleach can be smelled then if its small enough put it in the oven at 350F for a half hour. If it doesnt fit if you have a large bbq you can try that. Just be careful of the flames... we dont want fire :D I also made a couple out of PVC pipe... I know they arent wood but I just wrap outdoor/indoor carpet or reptile carpet around it and it works great.... |

I got my big branch from my back yard. We had a really bad snow storm this past winter that broke off a bunch of them. I did like Yex said...although mine don’t fit in the oven. I sanitized and scrubbed the heck out of it. It did sit out in the cold all winter in our garage, so I’m sure that helped kill any critters it may have had too. |
