Tank ideas? I talked to the guy at the last show . He said they will make any size cage they have in glass or acrylic . I can attest to the fact that the granite acrylic tanks look fantastic!! And are about a 3rd of the weight of the all glass ones.

Tank ideas? It’s been my experience to achieve the appropriate basking spot temp *135 average, 100* air temp and cool side in the low *80s, you can achieve these temps on a closed top enclosure with the floor print of 48" x 2’x20". 40 gal breeders are almost impossible to maintain these type of temps and heat gradient. Key word MAINTAIN. I don’t know why people think the size of the reptile has anything to do with the size of the enclosure they need. In my opinion and experience, their going to THRIVE in an environment with the proper heat gradient, humidity, basking temp & of course diet.
If you’re looking for good advise listen and learn from those who have been successful housing uros for many years and can actually show you their thriving in their care. That speaks for itself...
Urokeeper, I totally agree with your posting to built the largest size enclosure you can afford and have the room keeping in mind that a floor print of 4’ x 2’ has yield the minimum size floor print to yield the ideal temperature environment.

Tank ideas? Shyboy, your pictures always amaze me !
The sliding front 120 they list is 48x24x25 and would be perfect. Like I said in the last post, the guy at the show will build in either material .

Tank ideas? That’s a great size. Going forward I would build 25" high vs. 20" simply to allow for more efficient venting. I have fans on a temp probe to keep the hot side at 100*. Without it the hot side would rise to 105* - 109*.

Tank ideas? Mines 48x25x30 high . The extra height hides all the lights plus gives me plenty of space for my Megaray to be able to have a basking spot 18 inches away .

Tank ideas? I had my 6x2x2’s made for me all glass (miracle) with sliding fronts for $600 each. I bought a 135 gal (72x18x24) w/o sliding glass for about $350 about 10 years ago (will never buy one w/o sliding fronts again). I am building my own Aegyptia enclosure 12x4x4 (or something to that effect) which will be roughly the same price to build ($$ mostly from the tempered glass). I think I am going to put beautiful natural slate tiles on the back wall and sides, I think that will really make it look good.

Tank ideas? yo, would i be able to make a cage with metal screen instead of glass for the walls? or should i go with plexi glass? or maybe metal screen, with a sliding glass front? please get back because i want to build my uro a gigantic cage, and screen would save me a load of money.

Tank ideas? no the screen is not a good choice as the heat will escape and the temperatures will fluctuate. the uro may also climb up high and burn themselves, get their nails caught in the screen and have a bad fall. they may have "burs" on the metal screening and may cut the uro’s skin. I would use a safe wood product without formaldehyde to build with. I would let the enclosure air out with all the heat lamps in it for several weeks before placing the uro in it.
