Based upon his most recent post it’s impossible. You can’t maintain temp gradients if a dimmer is used at the basking sight. I regret ever discussing my raise up cages in this thread. The information is of no use, and is misleading, if a keeper is young or a rookie. It’s critical that this uro is put in a larger enclosure. It would also be nice to see pics of the OP’s set up. |

Bird, wake up kid. You are causing long term damage to your Uro. If I were you I would take up the offer for a free enclosure. The Uro needs its immediately. Proper UVB and temps are needed to keep this animal from suffering further and as jbred said.. eventually death will occur if changes are not made. Basically you have 2 options here: 1. Take our advice, make are the necessary changes and have a healthy Uro for a really long time 2. Ignore our advice, and watch your Uro suffer and come back and ask us why he stopped eating/moving/breathing/died |

The enclosure that I have is 4’ x 2’. It’s not pictured. You want it? It’s yours. Send me a PM. A bathroom sink? How does that work? |

Basking spot ONLY "this should be a space slightly bigger then the uro in which he can get his whole body into "needs to be 130 and should be 12-18 inches away from the UVB bulb depending on which bulb you have. How can you have your uro 12 inches away if the tank is only 12 inches high ? The AMBIENT temps of the enclosure need to be around 98-100 "this would be the air temps in between the basking spot and through the middle of the tank "should be around 24-30 inches across the middle" AND a cool end around 80 degrees that they can get their entire body into "should be around 12 inches or so of the end of the tank" Now you tell me how you can fit five pounds of sh%t into a 1 pound bag ? They need SPACE not just a temp reading . Why is your lizard panting ? He has no choice . Why is he basking ? He has no choice. If you really had the temps up to 120-130 as you say you do with your magical secret dimmer then the rest of the tank WILL overheat. If you lower your magical secret dimmer temps so as not to overheat the tank then you will NOT have 120-130. And, why am I wasting my time ? Your completely determined to kill your lizard anyway. |

I’m guessing that you don’t have a temp gun? |

Quote: A dimmer senses ambient temps.
A dimmer doesn’t sense anything. It mearly cuts the amount of voltage to the item thats plugged into it . A thermostat however will adjust the temp higher or lower and keep the temps where you set them. My guess is he does infact have a Secret dimmer . |

If he’s literally using a light dimmer...whoa! Don’t understand how that helps. |

Send me a PM and it will ship on Monday. Promise you’ll use it and not sell it? Also promise that you’ll research dietary needs, lighting needs, heating needs, etc.? If so, it’s yours. |

If you watch his video it IS just a dimmer. But it’s ok, cause it goes well with the oatmeal bedding. I’m sure the recent import baby uro will do just fine in his new surroundings. After all , he does have a nice stickon thermometer . |
