Sad, even sadder is the response above by the person that obviously doesnt belong in this forum. Hope the snake does well and heals up.

When I was a kid, Id go catch and have fun handling snakes. NEVER once did the thought of killing or beating to death ever come to mind. I find them to be fascinating creatures.

Just to add to the dying snake stuff...i was at my cousins friends house a couple weekends ago and we went out on his porch (me my cousin and his friend) and we heard a rattle. We assumed it was a rattler so my cousins friend ran inside and told his mom and she told him to grab the shotgun and kill it. We went backoutside, stomped on the deck, it came out, and BANG---his head was 32 yeards from the 4 foot snake with 9 rattles.



Just because he said that doesn’t mean he hates snakes. Some snakes are dangerous, and if they live in your yard you have the potential to be bitten. My area is thick with copperheads, I’ve stepped on one, my mom has stepped on one, and one bit my dog. Obviously this is a problem, and with all the development around here the safest thing to do is to dispose of them. I know I’m going to get flamed by a bunch of 10 year olds for this, but that’s the way it is.

Okay,abuse all together is horrible,i don’t see how anyone could do something like that. And to the person above me and to the other who killed a rattler just because it was defending itself...there is easier ways of disposing of them BESIDES killing them.Call a local animal control or something to relocate it.If there weren’t so many houses going up everywhere maybe these animals wouldn’t have to worry about us.I mean,not saying that houses are bad but we’re just building in animals territory. You have to figure...of course they’re gonna be in our yards and such,but just leave them alone and they’ll go on their way..its not a big deal.

Anyway,good luck on the save,i hope she does well.

I caught a BADLY hurt garder that had been attacked by a dog and it couldnt open its mouth (its jaw was shaddered) and my parents made me put him out of his horrible misory..I LMOST CRIED CAUSE I THINK IT HURT ME MORE TO KILL THE SNAKE THEN IT HURT THE SNAKE!It was horrible!

Actuly if you want i could help him get caught. If you live in city limits then it is illeagle to shoot a pellet gun over 300 feet per second. (that is if that is the law in your state, and town.) check into that.
And also if you were realy desperate for him to get caught then you could take him to cort. You could defend your case by saying...
if his fence (or corner of the yard was open.) or the fence had holes in it then you could say that he could have chased it out.
But if not then you could say that you tried to stop him and that you would very peacefully take the snake to another place that it would do no one any harm (or take care of it your self)
you could also say that he could have called animal control and had the snake peacefully removed from his property.
Also check the subdivision (if you live in a subdivision) rules and regulations. I am sure that it says something about guns.
And you also said that they had puppies. Make sure that they are not breeding the puppies eather.

Poor baby. I cant stand it when someone kills a snake just because it’s a snake. They can’t even begin to realize how benificial snakes are. I hope she gets better. She won’t be able to though unless you take her to a vet. Her jaw will be useless.

I love animals of all kinds. I own two dogs, three cats, a goldfish, a skink, and a garter snake. I go fishing quite often at a pond on my mom’s back forty. Every time I go I have to be extremely cautious of cotton mouths, a.k.a. water moccasins. I do not fear snakes. I attempt to avoid them. I’m in their home and I am the intruder. But, if I am faced with getting bit, I will kill the snake without thinking twice about it. I have seen what a bad bite can do. I respect all of nature, but sometimes you’ve gotta remember you are at the top of the food chain for a reason. What that kid did was reprehensible, and I hope someone told him just what a coward he really is. The person who saved the snake is amazing.

Being scared of snakes is ABSOLUTELY NO excuse for what he did to that poor snake. If he’s scared, then he could’ve just stayed in the house instead he ran back outside and chased the poor thing until he caught up with it and tortured it. Being scared of a snake absolutely does NOT excuse the cruelty inflicted on that poor snake. If that guy-whats his name-Chad?- was actually scared of the snake, then he would’ve came and stayed inside the house, instead of running back outside to HUNT and TORTURE the poor thing, which he CHASED all through the back yard, just to hurt the poor thing! That is not fear- its just plain being a coward!
And to the one who helped that snake-you are an angel, and what you did was amazing!

Yeah, same amphibiandude same...even though they were the same tadpoles.
I also had people who I broght baby turtles to for a class pet boiled with a HEAVY DUDY Heat lamp. One was my personal pet I had had for years.

i once found a striped garter with a very bad cut on it’s back,it must have been from a weed eater,and i took him and brought him to the vet and they patched him up and about 1 month later he was better so i let him go,it hard to let him go,i liked playing with him.He was a good snake,i named him lucky because he almost bleed to death!But i knew i did something good =D.
