hey all its me again! all is well with spike. no problems wat so ever. he is very light now! so he has gotten use to his enclosure! he is running around his tank and everything. he still does not really trust be but i know that will come in time. i have not been frilled by his so i guess he does not feel threatened by me. so i have learned he can eat a lot. wat ever i put in there he will eat it. even when i think he can not eat any more he does. is their a limit i should stop at? or should i let him eat to him little hearts content? as before i have super worms, phoenix worms, and silk worms. he loves all three of these. is it ok if i mix them up with each other when i feed him? i sexed him the other day, but he is still too young to tell wat he is, or maybe i just suck at sexing. either way i dunno wat spike is!

he shouldnt be to young to sex. if you arnt sure, its probably a girl. because boys DEFINANTLY have 2 bumps on either side of the tail.

i am about to post a new thread for sexing. :) check it out

sorry sorry i was to busy thinking about making a sexing post!!!!

i would drop the super worms and pheonix. super worms are to big for the little guy right now their shells are tough. feed what you got and just buy crickets. silk worms are GREAT always and forever!


when a frill dragon eats to much it’s throat will look puffy like a lump in its throat. you can hold the frill and gently rub his throat in a downward motion. if you dont see the puffed up throat then you didnt feed to much :)

worst case he’ll throw up what he ate if he ate to much. this is a higher risk with feeding super worms.
you’ll see him puff his frill outward like he’s swallowing, and shaking his head. eventualy stuff will fly out! ew!!!

THATS how you know you fed to much :)

feeding young frills 2-3 times a day is better then once a day. feedings should be dusted of cource.
if you dont have the time to feed 2-3 times then once is just fine. you may see a quicker growth rate if you feed more often and smaller quantities.(like several small meals a day)

oh ok so if i got this right i sex my frillie and i have a girl.....which is good! i wanted a boy but having a girl is kool too i guess! so i changed her name. because i can not a girl named "spike" so her new name is "kim" oh and she has started shedding today! i took her a bath and put her back in her tank. she has been up under her heat lamp for the whole day. is this natural? im guessing she is trying to dry out her shedding skin. am i right? i should just let this happen and not help her or what?

i am sure the bath stressed her out a bit and she feels the most secure in the basking spot. dont worry about it :)

i would worry if she’s staying on the ground the whole day though. but being up in a branch is the best place for them to "pout"

now you say she is a girl, but girls can sometimes all of a suden look like boys. if you see its a boy, it most likely always is a boy. but girls can pop out boy parts over night , taking as long as maybe even 2 years.

i think she is a girl too because of how skittish she seems, i notice my boys are champs, but the girls are more skittish.

i’m glad to hear she’s doing great. just mist here 2 times or more a day with water that is HOT when you put it into the bottle, by the time it hits her it’ll have cooled to a comfortable temp. instead of bathing her which may be stressfull. spraying is a good and gentle aproche to helping stuck shed :)

 Update

Well my frillie is going fine! she just fin shedding is look great! (photos to come shortly). so today i fed him and he did not act like his usual self usually acts. while i was sitting there preparing him next mean of super worms he just started eating. which is new to me b/c he usually waits for me to leave the room before he starts eating. shortly after i fed him his super worms and he jumped into his bowl and it looked like he was triyng to be big and bad and intimidate me before he started to eat his worms. he actually let me get right up on the glass and watch him eat! to today was a milestone i believe i crossed. this means he is getting use to me right?
