Hey DGN reptiles thanks for the feedback. the blue tongue skink is the most beautiful and cutest skink I ever saw.
Our skinks here are brown and have very long tails. The locals here even kill it because they mistake it for a snake.

Hello all and congrats on all the beautiful baby skinks. I was advised to look up everything BTS on this site-www.bluetongueskinks.net. It should answer all of your questions. The type of skink determines the temps and living conditions. Please keep in mind that an adult BTS does not require temps as high as a beardie. also, they love to burrow and feel safe with plenty of hide boxes. Mine spends most of the day underground, but comes up to feed or to beg me to take him out. They can live up to 30 years, a bit longer than a beardie. Also. when they are young, thay are great cricket, and worm eaters(silkworms, waxworms, etc.) I have found that insects are much easier on their kidneys/liver than catfood or dogfood but must be dusted similar to a baby beardie. I don’t think they eat any cats or dogs in the wild-LOL. Mine is currently around 13 years old and a real sweety. So owning a BTS is a long committment, but well worth it as they can be very affectionate. Mine is not a biter, but unlike my beardie, if you put your finger on or near their mouth it might mistake it for food and BTS bites really hurt. Also, please be very careful when handling their tails. Their tails will not grow back! the ends can easily break off. My BTS does not have the tip of his tail because it was broken off when he was a baby. Also, when you are raising a bunch of babies, make sure they don’t bite each others toes or tails. Just like human babies, they taste everything, especially if it moves. To those of you getting a BTS, my BTS and my beardie are my favorite reptiles in the whole world! My hats off to you and I hope you will be as happy as I am with mine.

Great info Janice! I hate to admit it on a beardie forum, but I like my skinks’ personalities better than my dragons actually... I like their slow pace and how content they are to cuddle up to you when you have them out. I think theyre like little dogs. lol I was going to say cats, but I feel like they listen better than the average cat.

Awesome ..very cool to hear all of this ...I too have known and loved these charecteristics about the BTS.

Thanks for sharing Janice / Danny , it’s perfectly fine to share these things ...LOL, and It’s like saying I love my bull snake over my corn snakes the bull is much more active and doesn’t hide as much ... enjoys free roaming and will do things much differently than the corns.... I still love my corns , just enjoy the differences in personalities and will bring out the bull more frequently if he enjoys it.

They’re all so adorable! I love ours and I can’t wait! Still gotta get Diamond’s new cage built first(probably going to use pvp and take some ideas off of lizardcages . com and then we’ll get his old one all cleaned out and ready. Haven’t convinced the mom yet but I’m hoping we can suck up to her all summer. Either that, or our neighbor will probably hold onto it until we can convince her. Can’t wait to see some more pics too!
