 Weird red worm thing ID please

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes,
Was outside a week or so ago messing around, checking my places I can get misquito larva out of,
and I came across these things in one of my driftwood boiler pots,
it;s half full of water, just has some rock n slate in there I’ve not used yet and leave out of the tree witht he silver maple seed in there to,
they things are hatching out of the mud dobber looking things in there, all under water.......

Anyone have a clue to what these are?
I’ve searched several different terms for larva and come up with nothing even close to the look of these things.....

i think they’re called blood worms? but they lay eggs in wood and then when the wood is introduced to water again,the eggs hatch. i had a big problem with these last year in my turtle tank. they are harmless but really annoying.
