 Alergic to roach droppings?

i have heard of this before but i am afraid it has happened to me. lately i have been noticing i have been sneezing and runny nose and itchy eyes when i clean my reptile enclosures and work with the substrate. but i also noticed that when ever i mess with my roaches i have a bad sneezing and runny nose reaction even resulting in an itchy throat

today i went in for a few small roaches and i just started sneezing almost instantly. i didnt even mess with my reptile enclosures yet... i knew i had verified the exact cause...

:( sucks...

it is not uncommon to be allergic to their droppings. its the same as being allergic to dust or pet dander...

What the hell are you smokin ....do you use a substrate ...and what kind ? in the roaches container...I use pine ...it irritates me slightly ...especially when I change the rats cages to fresh and new...but I am not allergic. I see the dust ...I inhale it ...i cough once or twice... I am in the roaches containers and multiple reptile tanks with cypress mulch and other types ...but I never have issues such as these....and in the 2 years or so that I have been here...this is a first from anyone.

Sorry to hear that you maybe allergic to your reptiles / roaches...for a small fee I can cure you of that.Or I can refer you to Dr. Reins... our WD mad scientist....lol

 Allergic to roach droppings?

lol...not every one shares the same allergies. i lived in san antonio for 3 years before i started getting allergic reactions towards cedar pollen and mold in the air. and i been handleing roaches for about a year now starting with hissing, and dubies for .. almost a year now and never had issue.

i recently removed all the substrate from my roaches, i was using chicken feed as sub strate. but i read on a site that some one else is allergic to dubia droppings and i finally realized i am too...

usually its just the coconut husk that irritates my nose slightly. but recently i have been increasingly more sensitive to most everything in my house. how wonderful!!!

san antonio is one of the worst cities to be in if you have allergies
