 Without UVB

I live on the gulf coat of the mississippi and we maybe getting hit with another hurricane.Fun fun. I was wondering how long WDs can go without uvb without being a risk to there health if or when the power goes out?

I’m not sure on how long, but I would think it would be ok for a couple weeks if necessary, but let’s hope not. You can also take it/them outside for sun for about 20-30 minutes a day if the power does go nout, to make up for the uvb.

lol yah i was like "oh boy im dumb" when i first found out.

but uvb is basically a simulation of sun lol.

and hey apparently 20 minutes of pure sunlight equals like a week under uvb or somthing. i think iread that somewhere. *shrugs*

I have heard / read many times that a 30 minute photo period of natural sunlight is equal to basking all day under the weaker tube florescent bulbs....

Lack of UVB for a few days or week will not be dangerous , but you certainly want to return to normal UVB exposure as soon as possible.

childress - i read your post you never thought about taking them outside and it made me laugh out loud!! its okay, i think loads of people don’t realize it that you can take them outside for sunning. its good that you asked especially with bad weather issues. i always worry when winter hits and power outages.

Yea I just totally over looked the fact that uvb is sunlight in a tube. I dont have to worrie about winter down here.

not only is it sunlight in a tube. but its tan in a tube. get thos lil black eye covers out and just lay infront of the vivi! yay! tan durring winter!
