 Healthy Weight?!

SO as some of you may know my babies suddenly decided to ban crickets from their diets, so have been eating superworms and mealworms and maybe veggies (I havent seen anything but Rone eating some apple once) and so I am worried about them potentially losing weight. I dont have a scale here with me at school so I took a pic and hopefully you can let me know if they look fine. They have been eating nothing but worms for approx. 2 weeks now. Matty is just post shed, and Rone is in the middle of it now.

They look wide enough, lol.

Mine was about 24 grams at a foot I think.. now he’s like 50 something at 14 inches. I don’t know much about weight but your dragons look fine. Superworms are an okay staple. Just toss in a cricket after awhile and see if they go at them. Sometimes my dragon will refuse to eat, at all. But if I go another day without offering food he’ll gobble them up.

They look fine to me. I like to keep my guys lean, it’s better for them healthwise - but they still weigh about 700 grams each. Just make sure the hipbones are not protruding.

they don’t really like night crawlers I tried it. I cant get a hold of any other worms but supers night and wax. You think they can eat pinkies??? I wonder... Do I feed them live ones?

There are those that oppose live ...but I have supported it...mainly because I can get them easily 1 at a time ...others who are located farther from a source prefer the packed " bakers dozen " frozen pinkies. Then of course you have to thaw 1 and imitate a live creature with puppet action. One other school of thought is that frozen pinkies can never carry parasites ...or inflict bites to the lizard.

I have always heard never to leave a grown mouse as live prey with a snake or lizard due to it’s ability to inflict a nasty bite.....but a pinkie would hardly be able to walk around much, let alone attack in defense.

So I leave the option up to you..... it makes sense to use frozen ...can be a ready source of stocked item ....even my supplier has a day when the mama’s or wholesaler has run dry. Once they accept the meal you can be certain they will always accept it again.

I’m one of those who oppose live pinkies. I prefer the frozen. However, I do not have to do any sort of dance at all for Gomez. As soon as she sees the pinkie, she gets up and quickly eats the thing down! She’s funny. She LOVES her pinkies

It’s very easy to thaw a frozen pinkie. I put one in a snack sized baggie, put it in a bowl of hot water and let it sit for about 15 minutes. At that point, it’s nice and soft and generally warm too.

Good Luck!

Yeah, Kitar loves his pinkies too! I just started him on em a few weeks ago. What I did was put a frozen/thawed pinky in his bowl and put crix on top of it. He grabbed it up with one of the crix and ate it right down. Been eating em f/t just fine since!! It’s also a lil easier to get a smaller or larger size pinky when they are supplied frozen, tend to have a selection, at least the stores around here.
