 Sick bobblehead

My bobblehead is sick and I’m not sure what to do. I think the other night it got too cold for him and he hasnt been the same. Right now his enclosure is 80ish during the day with a 90’s basking spot and at night I was keeping it in the high 70s-low 80s. I have since bumped the night time temp up to mid 80s. He seems lethargic, sleepy and now has lost interest in eating. Does anyone have an idea whats wrong or have a good Herp Vet in the Boston MA area?

thank you.

Well, your temps are not so good. You should have the basking spot from 91 to 95, the warm side from 84 to 88 and the cool side not lower than 75. Night temps would be higher than 75.

How is the humidity? Any other sign of deseas like opening the mouth to breath, poping sound in the nose when he/she breathes? What are you offering him/her to eat?

how low do you think the temp got? he may be too hot at night with temps that high. your okay if the temp doesn’t go below 70. lethargic and sleepy doesn’t sound good. you should take him the vet right away.

here’s a herp vet in your area:

temps one night got down to 70 but i have them higher since then. i mist twice a day so humidity is fine.i don’t think its RI because he breathes fine. he is lethargic/sleepy still, color is fine, not interested in eating(i just have him on dusted crix right now) and his poop seems kinda soft/has taken a liking to do it on my hand rather than in the water.

What kind of lights do you have in the VIV for your bobblehead? How long have you had him?

have you gotten a fecal? parasites a lot of times are reason for not eating and soft stool. is it runny? have a rank smell? also, doing OUTSIDE the water is another sign. its always good to get a fecal with a new dragon anyways....just wanted to add this could be a factor.

it also, like said above, could be RI going on. if they get cold, they usually get sick. does he feel cold to the touch?

i would just make an appointment just to see. it could be a number of things. but, if you think its RI then you need to bump up the temps and humidity.

bring in a poo sample to the vets to have it tested!

good luck and keep us posted...

yeah he has pooped on me a couple times and somethings not in the water(land part of enclosure). I will save the next poop if i can get him to eat. they do smell kinda bad.

He doesnt feel cold but he likes sitting on my arm or leg. guessing for heat.

sometimes they can come from the crickets.

Yes pleas state specifically the brand of tube bulb you have ...and here is what I am getting at ...

The reptiGlo 10.0 has been reported to give off bad wavelengths of UVC....besides the good UVB...so we don’t recommend them ..and there are others out there too. If we can eliminate that as a source of the problem , it helps.

The other idea I wanted to introduce you too ...is PARA ZAP ...a natural product that is non toxic for any animal and removes parasites and restores healthy eating and activity...You order it on line at one place only ...and begin by following the slightly confusing directions.....but for 24.00 you can be assured to save money and cure any parasite problems.

Many times new dragons have been shipped in such deplorable conditions that parasites are often a major problem. Along with over crowding and poor feedings.

OK here is the link to Para zap...and if and when you get it there are avid users of this product right here to help you with any questions you have ...
