Question about painting a custom viv

i have a simple question and didn’t want to hijack my other lines so i made a new one just for regular viv questions.
i feel bad about asking so many questions but i’m going to let mean female die. lol
anyway whats the best way to seal a custom wooden viv so it doesn’t rot from all the humidity?

MinWax polyurethane (water based)Let it air out for a few weeks before you put your dragon in it.

You should also seal all the joints / seams with a water based clear silicone caulk....that way no moisture attacks the small cracks in your wood joinery.

I used Aquarium sealent.. does the job, very strong and dries pretty quickly too.

Question about painting a custom viv

i went with the (water based clear satin) polyurethane. i couldn’t find the silicone caulk or the aquarium sealent and i was told this would work. i’ll probally put reptile carpet or something over on the bottom just so the don’t dig and expose the bare wood.

should i put a heat lap on it to help it air out and "break it in" or something or leave it in the sun? if i coat all of the peices of the cage indivually do i have to leave it alone for a week or so or is it better to just coat the viv when it is put to gather?

Question about painting a custom viv

Yes Rocker ,

Do put it in the sun / use a fan / and later after the 2nd coat ....lol...use a heat lamp to break it in ...very good idea...get the heat where you think it will be and pre cook the area so no new fumes are introduced when the lizards are introduced....

Hey ..even clear caulking works for the floor area....or white / any color ...lol
just let it dry for some 48 hrs.

I have used almond too ...just to make sure the raw wood didn’t get wet...
