That is one way of definitely telling the sex the other is the obvious the differences in their looks. Sammy on the left and Sephira on the right. His head is broader and larger. His body is twice that of hers. His spikes are also larger and tail broader at the base, That is how you can really tell! Sammy left again a little younger. Sammy on right

What I see here are 2 bumps. This shot is a reverse tail shot of what I’ve seen others post. So there are 2 bumps here too. In the previously posted female picture, I can’t tell what makes it female since it’s a different type of picture than the male ones. I sure thought I had finally gotten it when I looked at those pictures the other day, but now I’m not so sure.....yes it’s been a long day.

The bumps in your pic are before the tail, If you bend gently up and look near the beginning of the tail as in T.D’s pic you would see either 2 bumps that are separated or one continuous bump hope that helps..

Brian, I agree that in some dragons and obviously in your case there is a visible difference in their looks however it is not always safe to go by this, especially when they are young. At 18 inches the dragon may still look female so you assume she is. But looking under the tail you notice male. Or the other way around. It looks male with a high crest etc. and under the tail you notice female. Sexing is difficult in many cases. And the "obvious" Visual signs dont usually appear until properly matured. But you can start to notice the pores and bulges even before then. Like I knew Diego was male tons of time before he ever got pores or bulges. But some females do end up carrying male visual signs and the other way around. Bla bla.... I think I keep repeating everything in order to make more sense but im confusing myself so Im done now....

Since Kitar is still pretty young at 16 months old, 19" stl and definate male, I thought it would be good to post some of his sexing pics. I don’t have a female to compare it to, but thought it’ll help others with young dragons see the male difference in pores and bumps. First we got his femoral pores which as you can see are dark brown and very noticeable. Now his bumps. Notice that there is 2 distinct bumps on the tail beneath the vent. Hope that’s helpful!!!

I would say I’ve had Izzy almost three months. I would say she is about 7-9 inches long from nose to tail. My question is how long does it usually take before you can see the femoral pores or bumps to determine sex? I have been reading a lot of the forum and noticed that you guys are very informative as well as helpful. I appreciate all that you guys ( and gals ) do here for people like myself.
