Great idea, TD! In the U.S. they also feed:

butter worms
silk worms
horn worms

All of the above are "soft" bodied worms and easier on the digestive system. I have no idea of the nutritional value, but one of the websites does list them and as I recall they were all very good food sources.

I have no vegetables/fruits to list as my little devils WILL NOT eat anything that doesn’t move. But don’t forget to add BANANAS as I know that you and SAF both got your critters to eat them!:)

Oh yeah - I forgot bannana’s!!! - Thanks again to Saf for that one;)
not too often with the bananna feeding though as they are PACKED with potassium (sp?) and high levels of this are not good in any creature (including human)

I should point out that a WD’s main diet should consist of Crickets or Locusts or both (providing you have access to locusts to course)

TD.x.

Anymore yummy foods to add to the list?

I’m not adding to the list, but I know that for any animal that eats insects/worms Silkworms and Butterworms are two of the very best things you can feed.

BlueEyes I’m surprised, I was expecting you to add some items??
I’ve found that generally WD’s eat the same as BD’s except in different %’s ... BD’s eat a lot more greens than WD’s especially when they’re older ...

Thanks for the info though, I know nothing about butter worms or silk worms??

 WATER DRAGON FOOD LIST

Hi

I have few items to add to the list, my dragons like moths just wild ones not sure of names. Also for good growth i have found that Beef Rump steak cut into little pieces and also mince. My dragons just love it, i did a science fair project and i measured the amount of food eaten and it was 50 grams of meat eaten in 1 hour for 6 days in a row as well as 8 full grown locusts each and reptile pellets.

I think that 1-3 day old pinkeys are best to feed to your dragons because they are very high in celcium very good for big enough baby’s or gravid females. Older mice are alot bigger but if i were u i would mix it up. My 2 dragons eat about 8 pinkeys each for 3 days untill i run out lol, so i bought 2 more female mice, should be enough lol.

Hi TW... I’ve missed ya we haven’t chatted in awhile!!!

I just tried can-o-crickets to see if they would eat them when there not alive.... It seems some did eat them since they are disappearing.
But mostly mine prefer live food. I also tried canned cat food since I heard some mey eat it.... well not mine so, I don’t recommend it.
I went to get some feeder fish today also but Petco was under reconstruction and they have No Fish so I didnt get any to try.

Mine won’t eat any greens what so ever... I’ve tried and they only sit there and dry out.

MrG.!!

Ditto on the no greens for my "family" but I was glad to hear about the silkworms. I read up on "butter worms". They are from chilean moths and have a high calcium content. I ordered some Wednesday, but haven’t received them yet. They look like a amber waxworm from the pictures.:)

they are listed at www.fostersmith.com under the reptile section. I can get anything I need right here in town which is nice. They just came out with these about 4 months ago. My turtles love the ones for aquatic turtles. Its one way to get your dragon to eat greens I suppose, although I havent tried those kinds yet. GD

first of all hello everyone, being from south Mississippi its warm here except for a few months out of the year. my cwd is about 3 or 4 months old and seems to love grasshoppers that i catch around the yard. i live in the country so not much danger of pesticides being used. when its to cold for the grasshoppers I’ll buy crickets.
