no venomous snake is good first snake. To legally own one in the U.S i believe you have to sever 100 hours of time with the animal.

That depends on the state you come from. In most states you can own venomous snakes without permits. 20 states require permits. A Copperhead is the best choice as a first hot but be careful and KNOW oyur animal..

Yes, you are ok. You can’t posses any native protected species though.

No, you cannot have any venomous in Utah. They shut down the proposal for a permit in 2010. The rules on the permit were pretty ridiculous anyway.

It’s insane to me that in the land of the free, one cannot have a venomous snake if he chooses. Less and less freedoms every year.

I completely agree! I’m sure some people keep them anyway. It’s kind of hard to regulate if you keep your mouth shut about it.

There is logic to that. If they just let joe shmow keep a cobra then there would be a lot of dead joe shmows. These laws are for our protection and to ensure that only the properly trained and knowledgeable can get hots.

I certainly agree with Code Man, it’s stuff like what they did with burms that’s ridiculous. Licenses For Burms I agree with, albeit grudgingly, but prohibiting someone from selling them over state lines is ridiculous. Licenses for venomous I completely agree with.
