How was it? To be honest, I never was much on symposiums, expos etc. I’m strictly a field herper and collector! Listening to people talk about snakes bores me to death. I live for opening a map and finding new outside adventures..

There was an interesting talk (among others) by Zoltan Takacs, about cobras, and how/why cobras and mongooses are immune to their own venom. Kevin Fitzgerald’s stand-up routine was pretty good. At the auction, I bought an original piece from Don Wheeler. The NARBC show was pretty sweet, but I did not buy any animals. Just a few t’s and some jewelry. Got to watch and visit with Tell Hicks, it was amazing to watch him work. Would have loved to buy one of his pieces, but they are a little out of my budget. Over all, I enjoyed the entire weekend, excluding the drive.

Don’t be so closed minded.... you would have enjoyed most of those talks. Especially the one on Costa Rica. I am going to save up to go on a herping trip there.

I love Zoltan Takacs, He takes blood from the hearts of snakes right in the field.

Seriously Jeff, you should come up to Tinley some time to hang with our gang. Every year we raise the party bar pretty high. But we treat it like Vegas or Cancun...what happens there stays there lol. Also, Zoltan is an awesome guy. I love his talk. I have also never seen someone as dedicated as him taking photos. He came up to my house a few weeks ago to take some photos and spent two hours on one snake! And my girlfriend thinks he is great too because he came with rum and vodka filled chocolate for her.

Quarles would be a good person to ask. Send him a p.m. about it. I think he has been up and down florida numerous times for herping trips. From what I understand you are in (florida) one of the best places in the U.S. to find a myriad of reptiles. have fun!!!

I would be quite the drag being I don’t drink or party at all. I’m a very boring dude that only likes to wrestle and find herps..I guess I kind of suck in some ways..LOL

Well Jeff, there are certainly folks who don’t drink with us, the fun isn’t in drinking...rather the ideas drinkers have hah. Next year there is even some talk about getting a mechanical bull lol.

You sounded rather sarcastic in your post, but I wasn’t sure, which is why I was trying to get more of a feel for what you meant, instead of jumping down your throat, which I almost did.

Sorry.... been rather moody these days.

SoLa.... you were at the symposium as well as the NARBC show? Are you with the CHS? Perhaps we spoke?

I did not go to the symposium, but I have heard Zoltans talk on venom immunity. He told me he had some new findings for this talk, so I am sorry I missed it, but I couldn’t miss the NARBC stuff.

I am with the CHS though.

That venomous exhibit was a treat for me, as I rarely get to see them in person like that.
