Few Photos of BlackSeaReptiles and a New Critter!!

I went up to Montreal today to pick up my utmost favorite snake.... Boiga dendrophila melanota. Dan and I ended up doing a partial trade, was a win-win situation there.... and he helped complete one of my main goals in life! I must thank you for that! I really wish I could have stayed longer and see his awesome snakes and learn even more from him...but my dad just HAD to park in a towing zone..... go dad! So we had to leave earlier then planned...I managed a few photos though :)

Anywho, PHOTOS!

Mr Daniel Wiseman holding the little terror I brought home :P

His pair of False Water Cobras <3

WC Boiga dendrophila dendrophila... very calm one for a WC too!! He was beautiful

The little beastie.. named Blitzkrieg (or Blitz for short) at home

He was so innocent when he got to my place... you should have seen him at dan’s!! HAHAHA! To bad I didnt get a photo of his gaping, striking and terrorizing :P

lol awsome pics man, false waters are considered pretty venomous but they are rear fanged so they cant inject venom that well, i believe their venom is said to be like the eastern or western diamond back

i heard that FWC (hydrodinastes gigas) venom has been compared to timber rattle snakes (crotalus horridus). of course, their method of injecting venom isnt as efficient as the rattle snake, but their venom can cause swelling (i think that is about it though? correct me if i am wrong) because they are a rear fanged snake, unless they can latch on to you, not very much venom will enter your body? i believe that one person has died though from a (hydrodinastes gigas) bite.
sorry- i read too many books! (:

The FWC venom is considered fairly potent, but again they can’t inject well due to the rear fang delivery. There was one guy who let his chew on his hand for a while, not sure if he’s the one who died, but if they "chew" their venom in then it is much more serious. A quick strike is usually like a bee sting, of course unless there is an allergic reaction. In most states the same laws apply and consider these snakes venomous. Gorgeous little creatures though.

Their venom is extremely weak, comparable to the hognose, and if it was potent it would have no problem hooking in those rear fangs especially when the much smaller boomslang can sink it’s rear with no problem. Most people don’t understand that being rear fanged is no problem for most snakes except maybe the night snake, which is also rear fanged. If a snake is considered even moderately venomous than even a scratch from it’s fang is deadly serious. Once again, the false water is mildly toxic if even that!
