 POST PICS OF YOUR HOTS!!

I love looking at the hots, as im not good enough with snakes, and do not want to risk it yet. I just started taking care of snakes about 1 year ago, and finally got "good" at it later, around october. I want at least 5 or 6 years of non-hot experience before I do anything else, so for now, just post some pics of all your hots!

Matt

since hes rear-fanged, and allowed w/out a permit, he cant be very venomous, maybe as venomous as a hognose? Just enough venom to do as much damage as a bee sting? You said you got bit by him the other day, is that what it feels like? Or not, what does it feel like, ive never even been stung by a bee, so that wouldnt be too great of a comparison for me. Those are some nice little fangs hes got though.

They are really easy to hook for a quick little vine snake so you can treat them like hots and don’t worry about it.

The bite could include swelling and burning, and localized pain. But you should always be prepared for allergic reactions. Epinephrine.

I would not rank these snakes in the hot category, but since there really isn;t a forum for them, it works. A hognose has larger fangs, and probably has equal or greater potential for pain and swelling.

in my opinion...bigger then what I have, I would go for a 2 x 1 x 2 (L x W x H) Mine is smaller yes, but I plan switching him to a 29 gallon high aquarium once I figure out where to move my agamas

The last 10 yrs or so scientists are discovering that many snakes once thought to be harmless, such as the hognose and night snake, which both have venom glands and hollow fanged, just like the rear fang’s snakes of Africa. Their venom is far weaker and meant for toads and lizards.
