Honestly, if you are gonna insult everyone every time they ask a ’’beginner’’ question, then just get the hell off of repticzone.

No thanks.

It’s a simple google search, proving to be a waste of forum resources.

Honestly, this forum has become pitiful. How many posts do you see asking good questions? Something actually adding to the forum? It has the potential, no one puts fourth the effort.

Yeah, people are stupid and lazy, its particularly prevalent on repticzone, though. If it annoys you so much, then don’t use it. I know I don’t come here nearly as often as I did a while back.

I don’t know much about venomous snakes, but I also try not to waste people’s time with stupid questions. Unfortunately, since this is one of the first sites that comes up on Google, many people are going to visit it. And, most of the people on the internet just want to make mindless chatter. The forum is so vast, that it’s hard to enforce any standards here. In species/genus specific forums you tend to find an administrator who is versed in the subject and is more than willing to correct others. So, don’t expect much from SepticZone. It’s just sort of a novelty site. This and the monitor forum are probably the best on the site, but that’s not saying much.

I’ll Be Happy to Answer This One . . .

Politely and not patronizingly, either . . . Thanks, BTW, for the comment on Internet manners; there’s another thread where somebody got a little nasty with me about something, and as I approach "grumpy old man status," I find my restraint slipping to the point of being willing to draw real cyber-blood (Might be due to the invention of Viagra; it’s given a lot of us old f**ts new confidence). Over on another forum--don’t bother trying to Google it; this is my mild-mannered secret identity--it provides a fair amount of entertainment for some folks really in need of it. Here I’ve seen that mildly goosing an obvious garden-variety troll resulted in a thread being pulled, which is doubtless as it should me (treating the troll with Christian mercy, if you will, and saving them from a real drubbing).

So while I have no desire to handle hot reptiles, I’ve got the hooks, clamps, and cattle prods for venomous posters . . .

Anyway, baby rattlesnakes emerge with a single "button," and they gain segments on their rattle each time they shed their outer layer of skin. They don’t "hatch" per se, since pit vipers are livebearers who retain their eggs within the mother’s body until the young emerge fully-formed encased in a thin membrane. The word "viper" comes from vivipera--vivus=alive + parere=to give birth

The lack of a "rattle" is why rattlesnake hatchlings create problems in areas where they encounter humans; many people of all ages can’t resist picking up the "cute little snake," which they discover--to their dismay--can pack a painful wallop.

Teach your children well . . .
