Verde dendroaspis im a viper guy at heart but i cant shake the green mamba bug or the acanthophis bug for that matter but my post here is really to see if anyone here has worked with angusticeps, viridis, or jamesoni and if so what type of enclosure did you use, my plan is to build an enclosure that would almost virtually eliminate contact with the snake and i have a pretty good idea how im going to do it but was curious to see if anyone else has either used a specific pre-made made cage ( ie neodesha/vision ) or if they built their own i have a large enough neodesha but there so boring looking for such beautiful snakes
thankyou

Verde dendroaspis Actually, they did use to give out permits in NY, 68 was the most legally permitted, at one point in time. I had mine for 5 or 6 years before the new law came into effect and didn’t receive my renewal forms to get grandfathered in. Now, I have to wait for the exhibitor’s permit since I’ve had no luck with the DEC. That being said, even if someone was grandfathered in, the new law states no breeding, selling, trading, or purchasing of new snakes. Basically, whatever snakes one had prior to the new law and were grandfathered in for they can keep, until they are dead. Then, you are SOL. However, if one didn’t have said snakes prior to the new law, they will neither get a permit for a new species, nor be able to keep that particular snake legally.

Verde dendroaspis I have worked with them in the past, we had custom built cages with hide boxes in them. The hide boxes were designed with a light in them and a trap door that operated with a lever or a rod from the top. When it was cage cleaning time,i opened the hide box, waited for it to go in and closed the door from the top,the snake was secure and i did my thing. When I was done I would turn the light on inside and opened the door and turn off the main light, when it came out i closed it again.
Hope it helps.
