 Glass dancing, head rubbing

Hi there,
About a week ago I bought a uromastyx from a really good local reptile store. The guy at the store said it might be a male but too young to tell. Apparently he’s about 3-4 months old. I have him in a 10 gallon tank, which I know is too small. He has a basking spot and a UVB light 10.0 fluorescent Reptisun bulb.
Anyways my uro (named Chubz) keeps doing the glass dance a lot. It’s like he wants to get out. Also he keeps on rubbing his head onto everything aggressively it seems to be really itchy or something. I think he might be shedding and sometimes he’ll just close his left eye, which is the one he keeps on rubbing his head with.
The majority of the time, he spends under his rock where he has shade and he hides most of the day. He’s always sticking his tongue out and licking everything. I’m kinda worried about him because of the glass dancing and eye rubbing. Any suggestions??

You’ll need a bigger cage to fix the glass dancing issue before he seriously mess up his face and as for they eye problem what substrate are you using? How far is the lights from any basking areas? How does the eye looks(swollen,red,etc...)?

Thanks for responding,
I’m using bird seed substrate, which he seems to like and occasionally eats some of the seed. The light is about 8-10 inches away from the basking spot. The eye looks normal, although there is a little piece of skin peeling off close to his eye. Also he hasn’t really been eating in like 2 days. I bought him the spring mix salad and also romaine. I’m kinda worried about him. I’m definitely going to buy at least a 20 or 40 gallon tank though soon.

I would just see a vet about the eye, since tanks don’t hold heat well use a 40gal temporarily until he get a custom built cage.

When my uro glassed danced we though it was because he didn’t have enough room. We got a bigger tank and it still continued. At some point I came home and saw he scaled his entire cage and was hanging on the mesh lid by his nails. One day I bought several logs and branches and the glass dancing instantly stopped.

I think you should try getting him some logs to try and climb around on. He could just be looking for some place to excersize or maybe even trying to get closer to his heat lamp.

Thanks for replying!! I’ll be sure to buy him some logs and branches. Also, he hasn’t been eating in like a week... He’s shedding. Is it normal for them not to eat when they’re shedding?? I’m worried.

In my experience some reptiles will while some won’t. As long as their healthy and not drastically losing weight I don’t worry, but if he’s a baby then check your setup because something could be off but if everything’s fine its just the shedding process throwing him off feed. He should feed again after shedding.

Okay that makes sense. I feel better now, I will check the setup and make sure everything’s okay. Thanks!
