 My Egyptian Turned Yellow

For some reason King Tut turned yellow and began head bobbing at me. Is he ready for breeding? I’m tempted to put him in with my female but I doubt that she’s ready. Two day later, he’s back to his mostly grey coloration.

Queen Nefertiti also turned yellow when I put her in the sun for no more than five minutes, but is back to her usual gray color.

None, I supplement with Repashy Veggie and HyDCal Powder. In the summer, I’ll put them in the sun now and then.

He looks good, Paul. Do you have a weight, length or approximate age on them?

He’s about 18 inches from head to tail, weighed 32 ozs the last time I weighed him and is about 7 1/2 years old. The person I bought him and his mate from had them for 4 years. She bought him at an Oregon show from Doug Dix.

Both my male and female are real good lizards. They are very personable and unlike the malis and saharans I’ve owned in the past are very friendly.

I’m going to try breeding them next year. We’ll see what happens.

Best Uros in my opinion. I take the female out when it gets hot enough and let her walk around the apartment (but only after she has pooped.) She explores the whole apartment and even hangs around my chair.

Are they skittish at all? Will they just relax on you? My Saharan is quite skittish, but he’s also very young.

The female is dog tame. I can hold her, pet her and let her wander around on the floor. She even lets strangers pet her. The male lets me pet him, but won’t tolerate being picked up, and doesn’t like strangers touching him.

My male Mali will tolerate being held, but doesn’t really like it. He’ll just sit in my hand, and very rarely will try to bolt.

So would you say female uromastyx (in general) are a little more calm?

From my limited experience the females have been calmer.
