Captive bred or wild caught ? My lil guy is a wild caught, he has has mites, which, apparently is a common occurrence in wild caughts! He is also a tad underweight..... If i could go back i would try and get myself a locally bred one, s you have someone to go back to incase he turns out to have serious problems!!

Captive bred or wild caught ? Any captive bred animal is preferable to a wild caught animal. A wild caught animal will often be infested with external and internal parasites which in captivity will make it unhealthy and less likely to acclimate. A wild caught animal is harder to acclimate to captivity and some will never acclimate causing them to be under constant stress and refusing to feed and becoming dehydrated. It takes a rather more experienced reptile keeper to have more than a 50-50 chance in seeing the animal through the acclimation period which may last as long as 3-6 months. Right now of the three most active breeders Urotopia(Lindsay Pike) and Hacienda Anura(Noel Alt) only have Malis, Saharan/Nigerian, and Ornates. The other Deer Fern Farms(Douglass Dix) has Malis,Ornates, Saharan/Nigerian, and Moroccans definitely, I can’t remember if he said he had any Egyptians I don’t have the email from last month but you can try emailing him to find out. There is and add from an owner not a breeder on Kingsnake in Philadelphia named Kathy who has two for sale but the add gives the impression she wants to sell both simultaneously.

Captive bred or wild caught ? i was writ to be suspicious. there not really a decision to make is there !. i did question it when they said WC, and they said that Egyptians are not that common CB as they are difficult to breed, i can see that most the people on this forum are from the us, im living in the uk and am now going to look for a breeder as i am not planing to get any thing till next year i have got plenty of time to look
