Colder weather grrrrr!!!! Well the colder months are well and truly with us in Wales and the temps are dropping to about 5 celcius. My temps i can maintain, but my humidity is creeping up. My question is with my temps at a healthy level, how can i lower the humidity. The humidity was at 52% when i put the lights on this morning it gradually drops through the day but im still concerned.

Colder weather grrrrr!!!! You might try this it has worked for me in my reptile room to lower overall humidity. You may not have this exact product in the UK but maybe there is something similar you can get otherwise you can probably improvise something similar. I bought from Home Depot a product called Damp Rid and a special container specially made for it. Damp Rid itself is nothing more than a large bag of Silica crystals of the type you often see as a small package shipped with a product to remove moisture in a breathable pouch. In this case were talking about a 1 lb bag of crystals and the bag is suspended in a plastic case where moisture can run out of the bag and collect below in a holder to be disposed of. The bag lasts about 60 days and has reduced humidity i the room about 10%, two of these in a room I’m sure would reduce it further. I tried this after my Collared Lizard came down with an RI rather then spend a lot of money on an electric dehumidifier.

Colder weather grrrrr!!!! Check out Amazon.com there is a series of products called Eva-Dry for dehumidifying. One is a silica cartridge based job the other are inexpensive electric models working on peltier technology rather than a compressor and very affordable!

Colder weather grrrrr!!!! I’ve noticed my humidity climbing and my temps during the day dropping too .... I turned the CHE’s on this week, so hopefully that will help.
Good Luck ! :)

Colder weather grrrrr!!!! So far we’re doing okay here keeping the nighttime temps around 70F and humditiy around 40%... daytime humidity drops to 10-20% while ambient keeps around 80-90F. But it’s started snowing in PA and northwest NJ thanks to El Nino. And the weirdest thing I heard today was from an old timer who’s worked in landscaping since the 70s that just these few weeks, he’s seeing the little furry animals in the woods running around in their winter coats and the acorns are falling faster than usual in Oct and bigger. He’s expecting a bad winter, and he’s seen the worst winter in NJ which was in 1975.
