Arugula
Gaudi is doing very well. She is eating alot and I am glad to repot that she has gained 11 grams in 1 month, which brings her up to 55 grams. She is now almost 8 inches long. Her diet consists of dandelion and arugula on a daily basis. Otherwise, the only staple I can find here year round is dandelion. Rotationals consist of a red pepper, radiccio and frozen peas (very rare). I haven’t started giving her lentils yet. So, here is the question. Is arugual okay as a staple? Otherwise, it’s kind of boring only having dandelion every day. I also, but very rarely, give her a piece of mango or a berry. I know about escarole and curley endive, but I can’t fidn those here. Any other suggestions woudl be great. Thanks, Sophie |

I can find just about everything at Zehrs markets. No frills has some items and I have also seen curly endive at of all places wal mart (supercenters). call around. Zehrs is a huge chain so you should be able to find one near you and they always carry what I need. I used to go to 3 different stores to get everything I need but then found everything at ZehrsI get all my food saturday mornings once a week it’s when they usually get the new stuff in and it is super fresh. I get all my food for the week. I wash all the staples and cut them up and put in a tupperware with a few holes in the lid to let the gas escape and keep them fresher as air is not the enemy the gas the produce creates is so personally I don’t believe the "air tight is best" thing and has been proven worse.I do the same for the rotationals I try and get 3 different rotationals a week and I do the same and put them in a tupperware and feed these alternating with the staples. the squashes and other items such as vegetables I leave as is a cut up or shred when needed.this method is time consuming for saturday, however it saves money and time during the week because I have several mouths to feed. I don’t have wilty food sitting in the fridge after a few days. it also allows me to keep the diet varried getting different rotationals each week and remembering what I had gotten last week etc... hopefully that helps and I wish you luck in your search. |
