 Sand

So I haven’t posted on this site for about a year but everything with my Mali is going great. It’s about time to change the sand in her/his tank and was wondering what to use. I am currently using play sand but I don’t like how dusty it is it can’t be comfortable for my Mali. I don’t want to use the sand you buy from pet stores because my friend bought that stuff for some experiment and found glass in it. Is play sand the only other thing I can use?

Thanks for any help!

 Sand

I recently read on one of the posts that you can use pool filter sand. It has less dust and does not have the small rocks. I am new to all this but I trust these people. When I am ready for a substrate change I am going to try it. I am also not thilled about the small rock in the sand and dust.

 Sand

I can’t remember who, but someone on this forum has mentioned pool filter sand. very fine, uniform particles, dustless.
I cannot second the recommendation, as I use seed.

 Sand

I use Pool Filter Sand. It’s very uniform, clean and NO DUST or small rocks at all. I got mine at a Pool/Spa supply place. The brand name here in WA is "Target" Pool Filter Sand. It’s about $14.00 for a 50 lb bag but well worth every penny. Because it is made to have water run through it, it does NOT clump which makes it safe for the Uro’s.
