 Having troubles

My local Meijer stoped selling endive and escarole so I’m having trouble getting the right diet to Zeus. I’ve been looking around and the only other place that has it is Family Fare and most of the time its rotten or they are out of it. Ughh....
I’m having a hard time getting the right temp. gradient in his new enclosure also. I can’t get the basking high enough, its about 110-115, the hot side is fine- about 100 but the cool side is more of the problem it gets up too 95. I need some suggestions to what I should do.
this is his home, it is 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 1.5 feet tall. this picture is kind of old, I’ve changed a couple things too.

It is all insulated with styrofoam, should I take the top piece off to see if that will help?

you will need a vent of some kind on the cool side if it is too hot.

I had to add additional heat in order to get my basking temp where it needs to be. The megaray is on a timer and the megaray heat projector is on a herpstat . Keeps it at any temp i set !!

I agree with reddawg. All my enclosures have three lights, two for basking heat. I have never been able to get it high enough with only one. I use a flood and a MegaRay to get my basking up to 135.

I don’t see how you can’t achieve a basking spot of at least 125* with a 100w flood or Mega-Ray SB100w at a distance of about 14". What you need to do is change the distance between the face of the bulb and the basking spot. Also, if the bulb is inside the enclosure, I would look into adding more vents. I’ve noticed that if you have vents on the bottom side of the enclosure as well as a vent on the top side of the enclosure I get better circulation of cool air. By providing a vent on the bottom side of the enclosure it bring in cool air whereas if you have vents just on the top of the enclosure the bottom of the enclosure stays warmer. That’s how I brought down the temp in the cool side by about 8*. That and a fan set on a thurmostat to ensure cool air comes in keeping the hot side and cool side at the recommended temps.

Thanks you guys. I have about .5 inches of playsand for substrate along with tile. The room temp is between 72-75. I am using a 75 watt reptile heat bulb, I think its Zoo med.
I think this is what I will try doing:
I’m going to buy some more bricks and slate to raise up the basking area to try and get it warmer.
I will take off some of the insulation on the top above the cool side.
And if these steps don’t work I might get a dimmer switch for my MVB and use that instead of the 75 watt bulb.
