Frankys sad story
Well in the last week hes been through alot. It started with bugs in the tank so i changed the bedding. On friday i took him to the vet. She gave him worming meds. Yesterday i woke up and he was limp and wasnt responding but still breathing. I took him to a different vet and she told me that he was overdosed on the meds. So she gave my some fluids and something to put on his eyes so they dont dry out from not blinking. When i woke up i took care of what i had to do to him and he looked alittle better. when i was at work i got a phone call that he had passed away.
The point is ....... Everyone says vets know best well in this case they where wrong. She said he didnt have worms but they could be forming so she gave him meds anyway. Unless you KNOW that your pets has worms and that the vet is giving them the correct amount, do let them give them meds.
R.I.P. Franky

Frankys sad story I’m so sorry about Franky. :(
I am thankful that I have two reptile vets near me that know about them extensively. Personally, I would see if you can get a copy of his vet records and sue the vet.

Frankys sad story What a handsome young fellow Frankie is! I know your eyes and hands miss him terribly but he will live forever in your heart. As for the vet - get that sucker! Not for revenge or retribution but to save another defensless loved one. GOOD LUCK!

Frankys sad story I would take the Uro to another vet to have a necropsy done to find out without a doubt what it did die of . If it died from an over dose of medication you would have written proof . If it died from some thing else then you would know .

Frankys sad story Sorry to hear about your Uro!
I would definitely follow SK’s suggestion about taking him to another vet. I would also file a complaint to the BBB about the vet, something like that should not have happened. It was careless and an obvious mistake on the vet’s part (assuming that was the cause of death).

Frankys sad story BTW did you ever get a fecal done? I would be curious to see the results of that compared to the cause of death.

Frankys sad story no i throw out the sample the morning i made the appointment and he never went until after the appointment and she said dont bother cause she treated him and it would be a waste of money. im never gonna take my other uro to her. but she does have another thing coming. im gonna do what SK said to do and have another vet check him out. so this way it will be easier to prove it.

Frankys sad story Not sure what you are referring to, WaveRunner. I know Ty posted on 8/21 about possible maggots, got responses, obviously took Frankie to the vet within the next couple of days, and posted about Franky passing on 8/24. That’s days, not months. Are you thinking about someone else?

Frankys sad story He posted months ago that the Uro was on calci sand and not gaining weight . He had a fecal check done but it was recommended to have another one done since some times parasites do not show up in the first sample . I do not know if anther was done or if he changed the substrate .

Frankys sad story So, the vet suggested NOT to do a fecal when they will get another $35 out of you for a fecal, which makes no sense. Also, have you had a necropsy done yet? If so what are the results... and maybe you should get your other Uro to a vet for a fecal ASAP.

Frankys sad story I’ll keep this brief and then I am done with the subject. Research previous post, the original poster has an animal in very poor health and has other issues including worm type items in the cage. Multiple post are made telling her to get the animal to a vet, apparently once she did... the vet doesn’t want to do a fecal, the most basic method of getting an idea of whats going on with the animal which by the way would not only be helpful but profitable for the doctor. Suddenly the evil vet misdoses the animal, the poster who has waited this long (Started posting way back in may about the sick animal) quickly finds another vet on a Saturday none the less and finds out immediately that the previous days vet over medicated the animal. it all smells of "fecal matter" to me, but that’s just my opinion.

Frankys sad story I apologize to the unknown vet in this circumstance. Had I taken the time to research the past history of the original poster, then I would not have offered condolences to said poster. I cannot remove my original post, so am adding this instead.
I agree WaveRunner, it is criminal to treat an animal that way. They are dependent on us for their well-being, and the true victim here was Franky.

Frankys sad story just to let you know i did change the substrate as so as i found out that the calicum sand wasnt good. i had his fecal matter checked the first the and it came back clean. a few people on this website said that millet was a good choice so i changed it to millet. once i changed it to millet and i was giving him lentils (which was also suggested to me) he started to gain weight. when i started to see the worms in the millet i changed the bedding to the carpet. and the unused millet had worms in it to. i took him to the vet the next day. she looked him over saw the worms cause i brought 3 in she said the wouldnt hurt him. because i couldnt get a fecal sample she said to be SAFE she would give him some dewormer. in her words, "this wont hurt him if he has worms it will clear them away and if he doesnt have worms than it wont hurt him." Now i have talked to 3 different vets and they all said the doseage she gave him was 50 times the amount he was supposed to get. and im not lieing either. i went back to make sure of the amount and she didnt do the math right. so when you say it was my fault that hurts i was doing every thing i could to make sure he was healthy. its not my mistake that she did that. i miss franky so much. so please dont sit there and blame it on me its not like i did it to him.

Frankys sad story Tydye, what was the name of the vet and clinic that you claim overdosed your uromastyx and subsequently killed it?
What was the name of the medication that was given to your uromastyx? How do you know that .2 rather than .02 was the amount given? Was this written down somewhere on some paperwork?
You claimed back in May the uromastyx went to a vet but didn’t have a fecal and two weeks later you were claiming that parasites were checked for so you have proven to be inconsistent on whether or not this animal was ever checked for parasites. When was this fecal you mention in your last post?

Your post today:

So which is it? You had a fecal sample and threw it out, or there wasn’t one? Sorry man but this is a bit confusing now...

Frankys sad story i made the appointment in the afternoon. that morning he had pooped and i didnt know at that time that i was gonna take him to the vet. so thats why i didnt have a fecal sample. he didnt go to the bathroom until that night. i saved it to get checked out the next day but by the time i found him in the morning i had a differnt concern. so im sorry if i didnt make that every clear. I THROW OUT THE SAMPLE BEFORE I KNEW I WAS GONNA TAKE HIM TO THE VET. does that clear it up. im trying to be nice but it just isnt happening when i get blamed for what happened. i was trying to do the right thing and take him to get checked out. so for being a good pet owner HE got screwed. i feel guity already and now you guys are making me feel even worse. nothing can be done now. so i can only appoligize to him for loving him too much!!!
