Feeding So, as stated, I got a big Uro 3 days ago and he/she wasn’t eating, so today I put some peach chunks in there and went to work. When I came home, the peaches were gone along with some greens. I’m sooo happy.

Feeding YAY! he is eating :D
It is common that for the first week after obtaining any new reptile that they willl be too nervous/scared to eat. Still insecure with their new surroundings and it can take some time.
Glad he/she warmed up to ya and is eating.

Feeding Just remember that they need the endive and escarole, squash and stuff, and the fruit is the treat. Like toddlers, they will holdout of the good stuff just to get the junk!! Don’t give him fruit too often. Or rather, "when he finishes his dinner, he can have desert, but not before!!" LOL!! What greens areyou feeding?

Feeding I give escarole, mustard greens, spring mix, some veggie mix, some colered Iguana pellets and the peach chunks. OH yeah, and yesterday (when she finally ate) I tried her food without the vitamin powder. She may not like the vitamin powder. I’ll try again with that in a day. I need to fatten her up so I’m getting some beans today, have to look up what kind to get.

Feeding Lentils are great, but be sure not to overdo them! Just a small amount is needed. You can soak them or feed them dry - they munch them like popcorn.

Feeding Lentels. Dang, now I just got back from the store. I got the frozen veggie mix with lima beans. I might have some lentels, I know I have some in a soup but that’s not good for them.
Salt is not good for them right? So nothing in a can?

Feeding Lentils are protein. I would only give 4-5 a week .My Mali loves canned butter beans . One problem with canned veggies is most contain salt . Try to stay with fresh greens and fresh veggies as much as possible . Same with lentils . A couple as a treat is fine .Try feeding bok choy once a week, squash , dandelion, escarole , endive daily. Limit the fruits they do not need them. Especially soft sticky fruits like peaches . They can stick on the mouth and skin and cause skin problems if you do not properly clean it off . Uros are very messy eaters and will walk through their food . You do not want dried peaches on your Uro.

Feeding My big male Saharan LOVES lima beans almost as much as he loves lentils. It’s the one thing that will get him eating out of my hand. I give him four or five a week, I just keep a bag of them in the freezer and once a week I soak a few in hot water for a while, then hand feed.
