How hot is it where you live? I know that I could never take mine out, even in the summer, he would freeze up in about 5 minutes probably and its quite hot here.

I had an Egyptian a awhile back. I moved into an apartment and had to give him away : (
Anyhow, I had built a cage I could take him outside in. It was about the size of a 30 gallon with a plywood bottom and plastic mesh around the rest . I also had one end with a shelter he could go in if it got too hot for him. He LOVED IT !!!! i would take him out once or twice a week and he would sit up on the basking rock I had in there like he was the king of the world !!! I would be scared to death to not have him in an enclosure while outdoors , there alot faster then you may think. Cats are pretty fast too !! And could swoop in and grab him before you could even react.
I think a few hours of natural sunlight is great for them as long as you take the proper precautions.
