Help for a small scrape on tail

While I was getting Spike out of his cage to apply a bit of mineral oil on some built up shed, he started wildly whipping his tail. He has never acted like this before. Anyway, he hit his tail on the side of the cage door and has a small scrape. (Not deep, not a cut, just scraped a bit of skin) Should I just leave it alone and let it heal on its own?

Also, I’ve never heard of anyone applying mineral oil to their entire mali’s body, but while putting it on the old shed, I started wondering if anyone does that in order to make them shiny and bring out their color? (Seems like it might be a bad idea - substrate would stick to it, but I was just wondering)

Thanks!

I would not apply mineral oil to the entire body . For one it would cool his body temp down. also if you have a loose substrate it would stick onto him. I just don’t think its a good idea . I would watch the scrape . Corn starch works great to stop any bleeding . Just watch that it does not swell up, have any drainage or become infected . It should heal up on its own. I would not handle him .
