A land turtle will need more room than a 20gal and aquariums aren’t good. My friend has land and aquatic turtles and the minimum is a 4 foot by 4 foot cage but the smallest I can think of is a box turtle and they need a cage equivalent to a 90gal tank.

Depends on both the pavement texture and the turtles skin but id just let him roam in the grass if his an adult babies I’d let roam supervised a little not too much because these animals do better in their enclosure unlike most reptiles.

I’m proud to say me and my family have purchased a leopard tortoise hatching and yes we know how big it gets we keep it in a quite large container for now and are ready to put him outside when he gets bigger he has sand and repti bark a corner of planted grass a bowl of water and a food bowl I soak him every day in barely warm water and hand feed him kale arugula and other dark leafy greens i hand feed him because he doesn’t always eat from the bowl and i want to make sure he gets enough in his tummy and i chose a highly sophisticated name Bubba!

My family and I are loving Bubba but he keeps flipping himself on his back and he cant seem to right him self
sometimes he even does it in the water but usually in the corners (we got the water thing figured out) if there is a way to prevent this from happening that would be great any suggestions And how long can they be on their backs thx!

I don’t think that’s a good sign if he’s constantly flipping on his back

well he usually does it when trying to climb the walls when i went to school today i was certain i was going to find a dead up side down bubba in my tank but he was perfectly fine we put cardboard pieces in the corners and that seemed to help! Luckily i read that its just a hatching faze. sooo happy hes not dead by the way!

That’s good to hear, amazing your preventing this so an injury won’t occur.

After we put up the cardboard the flipping stopped (mostly) for some reason we kept finding him on his back when i came home one day i found him on top of his log and that was a problem because the log is right near a light so we had to put walls up on that too but he seems to really enjoy climbing on it if anyone has any suggestions of things he can climb up to bask on with out falling when he try’s to get down that would be awesome
