 Mixing Turtles

Hi there

I recently purchased two Razor back turtles and I had a few questions. Firstly how do i know what sex they are. Also I want to know when theyre ready to breed and If i need a male how do i breed them.
Also I was wondering what other species of animals i can put into my tank turtlewise. Could i put different types of turtle in my tank? Also, My turtles dont seem to want to bask, I understand that they are mostly always aquatic but I need some reccomendations of what to buy.

Help would be appreciated

Thanks alot

Connor

I don’t have turtle knoweledge but as a reptile owner I can tell you not to mix diffrent species together. And breeding wise when its time to breed just put a adult male with a female but make sure she weight healthy and just give them some privacy because most animals won’t do anything if your there watching.

I hope this helped with some of your questions.

As far as mixing turtles go, its fine as long as they are the same size and temperament, if the start fighting over territory or bullying, then they have to be removed, this is best to mix when they are as young as possible. As far as the breeding, its kinda cruel to put them with a different species because they will eventually try and breed with it as long as they have places to bury eggs and so forth, but as long as they are in they same families (male and female) there shouldn’t be any worries, good luck!

As far as basking goes, when turtles get moved around or handled it takes a week or two sometimes before they calm down and start acting like turtles again, and where is essex?

I could tell you where to get tons in the us, but my friends in England arent turtle people sorry, as far as sexing the turtles, if they are under 4 inches they are quite difficult to sex, are you sure you dont have a boy and girl?
