 Is this shell rot?

I’ve been away for some time and I’ve left my two red eared sliders with my parents for about a year or so. I come back home and they have gotten a lot bigger. On the bigger turtle, I noticed some like exposed flesh on the underside of him. It doesn’t look good, and I plan on making a vet visit soon, but want to know what you all think. Diet is feeder fish 3x a eek and a mix of greens everyday. They have a basking area with a heat lamp and uvb source. I kept him out of the water for the past week, only letting him in for about an hour or two a day and it looks as if its dried out some. they have regular water changes and have two waterfall type filters in the tank. Here are some pictures:

There are no soft spots on top or underneath the shell. He does seem to have some pyramiding near his head, but its not to bad. He is defiantly bigger than my other turtle but we got them at the exact same age about 15 years ago when they were about the size of a half dollar. I’ll post pics of the aquarium and the turtles side by side tomorrow.

He could have been injured in something in the tank, but I would still go to the vet, a check up never hurts

Could it be from him dragging the bottom of the tank? When I got there, the water was not as high as I like it to be. I’ve adjusted everything and he is definatly looking better and spending much more time in the basking area. I’m thinking the way up to the basking area was to difficult for them to get out of the water and my mom just didn’t realize it. Every time I go over there though they are now up on land.
