My name is Shelly we just got to African sideneck turtles from pet smart the bigger one is nipping at the little one and trying to flip him over there not very big and in a 40 lon tank any ideas

The big on is being territoral probably both males...you should never house a big one with a little one. You’ll need to seperate them.

So the big one isn’t being mean anymore there walking g around the bottom together. But she only wants to eat worms she won’t eat the floating pettlet should I take him out to feed her hes a little pig and eats all the food

I don’t have turtles but my reptiles would do the same things their doing if I was to house them together....if he’s eating all the food from her that isn’t good either but I guess you can feed them seperatly but overall she’ll get stressed from living with him. But you’ll have to keep watching them because he doesn’t look mean and doing anything now probably because your there watching them.

Ok :) and also if the male is the biggest and mature make sure he don’t try to force her to mate...that can reallly stress her.

I think the big one might e just not sure I fed them tonight and they are both eating good I feed a seperate ends of the tank she eating good and the ate side by side with no aggression toward eachother so I think they will be ok still gonna wath them tho
