 New RES

Hello.. im new to this forum but am familliar to the iguana forum. yesterday i went to a friends house and noticed his two turtles water was very nasty and they had no heating or lighting equiptment, and no filter, also in a 5 gallon plastic tank. so i ask if i could have them and he said yes. i really have no experience with any type of turtle, but i knew i could come here and get help, also i knew they would be better with me than him. so, with that being said, i have a question. why doesnt the turtles come up on the land. they set in the water all day and come up for air, but never come out of the water. thanks for the help in advance.

They are probably just happy to have fresh water! JK. Give them a little bit to get adjusted to the move and the new surroundings. I am guessing you have heat and a uva/uvb light on them now and a bigger tank. I wouldn’t bother them too much for the next couple of weeks other than to feed them so they can get adjusted and start to feel more comfortable. Great job on rescuing them. You might also want to post in the turtle forum cause not too many people come onto this adoption/rescue forum. And post some pics-I love turtles!
