I have wites treefrogs and I just got them a new bowl the old one I want to give to my lepard gecko what cleaning shoud i do

I would just wash it well with an antibacterial soap and rinse well. You can even put a touch of bleach in the washing water and then rinse well. If it were from fire bellies or darts I’d say to not even bother and get a new one.

please dont use soap. it is toxic. use a 3% bleach solution and rinse really well. make sure u dont smell any bleach or rinse it more.

I agree, Hot water is the safest for frogs I would think not risk of chemicals getting a hold of the frog.

There is a cleaning spray you can get that is used for cleaning tanks and that its called Repti-Klean vivarium and terrarium cleaner it cleans disinfects deodorises anti-bacterial you just spray it on let sit for 5 mins then rinse really well, rinse it well with hot water. i use it and have had no problems.

can that be used without moving the tank? I have to in my situation, have to do my cleaning without moving the tank, it’s too heavy to lift on my own. Also, what’s the best tool for removing bedding without having to dump the tank, I’m thinking some sort of trowel or even a cat box scoop.

I use vinegar diluted...say 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, (1 oz of vinegar with 2 oz of water etc...)....


I never move tanks to clean either.... I just clean it where it is....

I use diluted vinegar too..................

I think whatever you use to clean the key is to make sure you rinse really well.

I usually wash mine out with really hot water. I do a good wipe down with the vinegar sloution and then I rinse really well with hot water again. I make sure I then wipe it out well with paper towels and let it air dry. I also do it in place.

I have used bleach before on a tank someone gave me and I didn’t know it’s history. Afterwards I was VERY careful to rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse then let it air dry and then rinsed and rinsed agian. You get my point!!!!

Any residue can be harmful.

yes that is it, I usually use paper towels. I do keep a towel that I haven’t washed in soap just boiled to clean out the tanks too.
