My hatchling is sleeping a lot drinking not eating...

Hi I have two sulcatas one 3 inches and the other 2 inches. It’s the smaller one that has changed his behaviour since it’s got colder. He was an active little thing eating, drinking ramming roaming and now he just lays out in the light bathing and snoozing. Is he Okay? I live in Southern California ...he seems to only like eating romaine lettuce if I put flukkers pellets down he ignores them...his belly shell is a a bit soft is this normal given that he is probably only three months old?

Hi,

first things are first have you:

got the habitat correct?
temperatures correct?
diet correct?
general care correct?

If all tick yes, then let us not forget given the fact they are only 3 months old and extremely young babies...they tend to tire themselves out much quicker and easier than adults or even sub-adults. It is also common for hatchlings and younger tortoises from 0-24months old to go sun bathing under their heat/basking lights and doze off for a few hours. my hatchling hermanns use to do this all the time.

However, if he doesnt eat nor drink in a weeks time please consult a reptile specialist or professional vet. Being as young as they are, they are still vulnerable to a number of diseases, infections and so on.
