 Tegus Get Mean ??

[QUOTE=CivicDemon;1784176]So my girl was at the shop getting some frozen mice for or about to be 1 year old tegu and the guy asked why we feed frozen, She replied what i have told her, to keep feeding aggression down and so he dont get mean.

The guy at the shop said that sooner or later he will get mean no matter what. I dont think its true what do you guys think. i want him to eventually free roam the house. Heres his pics.

If you work with him, he can become tame. Tegus are very smart lizards, and they can be tamed over time. I highly recommend using the bath tub for training. I use an empty bath tub and I get in with the lizard. I let the lizard free roam and eventually the tegu will come to you, and it will quit running from you. You can also do the same thing with a warm bath with you not in the tub. Both of these techniques build trust. Also, if you lizard gapes or hisses, make sure to not get skittish. Just keep holding them, don’t reinforce bad behavior or your tegu will learn to do this to be left alone.
