It will heal but I doubt it will grow back. Keep it clean and dry and it should heal fine. If it looks swollan and red you may need antibiotics from a vet for infection. Also if this happened in his enclosure you may want to double check to be sure there are no other hazards in his tank....

Not unless you suspect an infection. You can also dab it with some polysporin but I would be worried about sustrate sticking to it and making things worse.

One other thing that works well is take and mix some water with some Povidone Iodine Solution 10% and make it look like tea in a small cup, soak the toe a couple times a day for a few days, it drys fast and kills germs on the surface of the wound, nothing will stick to it if you let it air dry for a few minutes before returning to the enclosure.

From what i can see in your picture, I doubt it? If just the nail was ripped off and not the nail bed it would grow back but looking at your picture it looks like it was cut above the nail bed? You’ll know for sure in a few weeks either way? My Water monitor was missing some toes/nails when I got him 3 yrs. ago, but he is awesome nun the less. Did you figure out how it happened?

Chris......

Actually, it very well may grow back.

My Iguana went nuts the other day when I was getting him out of the cage and his nail got caught on my glove and it pulled out, the whole thing!

Within a week I noticed that it was trying to grow back, and at least for my guy it did.

The nail part does not grow back but the toe does. An as for treating it one simple rule and it always works. Leave it alone. Their blood and immune system is a lot better then humans it will be fine without you freaking out and rusing it to a vet that says they know reptiles when they really don’t.
