Hey coults,

Actually... all of the reptiles ive ever had use aspen bedding, the main reason is because it is digestible if ingested..
And although aspen isnt too great at holding moisture, you should mist the cage/ herp everyday anyway so you shouldnt have shedding problems unless your herp is unhealthy due to diet

i keep my red on aspen. it’s easy to clean and as long as you have a good enclosure, humidty isn’t a problem. She never has trouble shedding and she sheds constantly .

I personally dont use aspen just because its expensive hehe. But ofcourse money isnt really an issue since I keep tegus and all....I use plain dirt and have never had a shedding problem. I soak my tegus once a week....like a bath if you will. My big guy really enjoys it except he ALWAYS poops in the water. Soaking your tegu once a week will aid shedding and dehydration and its kinda fun. Hmm....never thought about it but my tegu is always so dirty cuz of the dirt.....maybe switching to aspen isnt a bad idea afterall....but nah, they only got a few months left before hibernation then they move outside next spring anyways....

Umm no... well, it shouldnt.
As long as your temperatures are high enough and your enclosure isnt 90+ humidity (which it isnt) then the water in your bedding with evaporate into the surrounding air.

And if it does, its isnt harmful, although i would suggest removing it immediately :)
