How long have you had your Varanus exanthematicus?? If they are still fairly young and not in their permanent adult sized enclosures then you might want to wait until that happens before adding more large species of lizards like tegus into your home. As with Varanids, tegus can become quite costly in terms of feeding and housing. |

I would suggest if your heart is set on getting a tegu, go black and white, they are the most ... for lack of a better word tolerant to its keepers mistakes. Just keep in mind that golds are notorious for there hostile temperament |
