 Info Needed On Tupinambis Merianae

I’m thinking about getting one but I recently read that they hibernate 5months of the year?
Does this have to happen? As and adult mine would free roam in my room (ofcourse with basking spots and water, etc.) I’ve also read that adults don’t really require uvb provided they are well established is this true also?
As adults what form of protein should they recieve as a staple?

They dont need to hibernate, unless you’re trying to induce breeding.
UVB (and UVA) is probably needed a good deal more for a young specimen as opposed to an adult, but providing it for any aged tegu is still a good idea.
As far as diet goes, I would avoid any type of "staple" as much as possible instead opting to offer as much as a variety of items of possible.
