What Kind of Tegu!? Okay, so here is my dilemma. I want a tegu 100% the only thing I am having trouble with is deciding on which kind. How big do female b/w argentines get, the other one I am looking at is a female red argentine. I’ve read that both are great just that one requires more attention to become the docile and tame creature we all want (red). I don’t mind that though, I can deal with taking her out daily and playing with her all the time. Just size of both of them at adulthood what are they?

What Kind of Tegu!? I believe that they both are around the 4-5 foot mark and them being docile depends on their personality and how much you work with them. Now if i may, i’ll ask you a couple questions. Do you have the room to house either one of them? Caging minimum is 8’L X 4’W X 4’T. Also are you responsible enough to stick with it? Feeding can also be spendy.

What Kind of Tegu!? I do have the space, the enclosure will upgrade with size obviously. I have a 20g Long and a 44g vision from previous snakes and once she gets big enough to graduate from those (When/What size tegu) How much daily would you say cost of food would be for an subadult-adult I wouldn’t expect more than like 10 dollars a day or so, I know what they eat, just not sure how much it would all cost on average since I’ve never had a Tegu before and don’t know how much they eat on a daily basis.
Thank yoU! :D

What Kind of Tegu!? Hi, congrats on deciding on a tegu. They are good pets. As for how much they eat, feed them as much as they will eat per sitting of 10-15 mins or until they walk away from the tray. I feed mine daily except my big guy cuz he only eats every two or three days depending on his last meal. 10 dollars a day is a bit high buit then that depends on what you feed them. Ground turkey is cheap and easy to store. stuff like that will help keep cost down but remember to feed a variety of food. I would say I spend about 10-15 bucks a week on my 2 tegus. But then I do breed my own chickens, mice, and rats. I just buy fruits and crickets and stuff. I posted a food list on here if you need one.
