where can i find big bags of bedding to fill 12 sqft of floor space for my tegu?

Get organic dirt from a hardware store. make sure it has no fertilizer in it or it could kill your lizard if it digests any. or buy bulk bedding off the internet.

It depends on what your looking for ... i would say go cypress or redwood mulch. And it should be readily available at your hardware store...

I use redwood mulch (cant get cypress here, so Ive enever even tried that) from home depot.

I kno im not ameivaboy but ... dirt can be ingested and cause impaction problems ... also if it is from a home depot kinda store make sure it is organic and doesnt have fertilizers and crap in it. I would say go full cypress or redwood but thats just me.

yah i got it from lowes. i made sure it had no fertilizer and it was organicly grown in a tomato field. And alot of substrates can cause impaction problems but only if it is digested alot.

I wouldnt worry about impactation from dirt (or most things) as long as your animal is healthy and has proper temperatures.. Dirt whether by itself or mixed with something should be suitable as long as it will hold a decent burrow.

yah it wasnt holding burrows...so i mixed it with playsand. he digs under his basking tile and loves his burrow under it! and it looks great!

found this post in google, sorry if i’m necro’ing. but i’ve been doing a little reaserch and word is redwood mulch is as bad as pine or cedar as far as phenols go.
