 Feeding

Breezy from Steve’s Lucky Bait in Baudette, Minnesota DO NOT feed your tadpoles algea out of a pond. The water may be contaminated with run off from peoples lawns and streets and that will easily kill your tadpoles. You should either get Stage 1 tadpole feed from your local pet store or do what I did when my tads were new, boiled lettuce for 10 mins, strained it, layed it out on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer. Once the lettuce is frozen you can chop it right off the cookie sheet our put it in a bag and put the bag in the freezer. You should feed your tadpoles a out 2 to 3 pinches of this every two days.

 Feeding

Continued If you buy some small aquatic plants and put them in with your tadpole, they will help oxygenate the water and the tadpoles will eat the algae that grows on them. You basically want them eating the algae that is going to occur naturally in your aquarium.

 Feeding

My tadpoles did just fine in the Algea from the pond I got them in and they are pretty big in just a month! And they are already growing legs! But I do agree that there can be bad stuff in the algea. I put it in my tank because it was naturally and algea gives them good protein and helps them develop. I also put grass with the roots in my tank for the tadpoles to hold on to they also eat the roots when they grow back legs I suggest putting a rock that meets the surface so they won’t drown and so they have something to climb up onto when they grow front legs start feeding them small incescts or get small mealworms and crickets.
