 Forever a tadpole ??

OK so this is how the question came about,
Last fall, late in November the wife and I caught 5 tadpoles in a big pond off a river that is was so full of horn-wart and tadpoles it was not even funny, but, I didn’t get why their were still millions of tadpoles without legs yet so late in the season,
BUT, the 5 we have, have doubled in size and they are still not getting any legs.. or less of a tale,

Is this just a deformity because of the over population and will they ever grow legs?

Thanks for any help,

Larry

Hi! Just a thought, but is it possible that they might be bullfrog tadpoles? If so, they will keep growing but take an extraordinary amount of time to actually mature. :)

Thank you for the reply, I’m not into the whole frog thing to deep, even though I have an african clawed frog, I’m pretty sure they are bullfrog tad polls, that is all that is in this water I got them, we did see a few in there that had legs started but very very few.
I’ll just keep them in them in the pond and see what happens.

Just thought i would update this post, we have 4 or 5 tadpoles, one is almost a baby frog now, he has all his legs and a very small bit of his tadpole tale left, and one of the others is starting to grow his back legs,
But our baby frog, his front legs came in so fast we missed it.
But just wanted to toss this out here.
