I can’t believe...
My neighbor and I both on the same day the same set of eggs pulled out about 30 tadpoles each and I had mine in a fish aquarium 1/4 way full with some rocks for them to climb once they get their legs. I still have 31 tadpoles and they are growing so great. I put them outside daily for about 2 hours in the sun light and clean their aquarium out every 3 to 4 days and feed them about 4 to 5 times a day. They are starting to get their legs. Now on the other hand my neighbors (which I have since stolen) are the same size they were when we took them out of their pond I am guessing because they had them in the same water from when we got them and had them in their dark basement. When I was removing them to take them to my house and get them in clean water and container I found ones that were dead and others were eatting them. They are so small still and not the same size as mine are now. I am trying to keep them from dieing. I have them seperate from mine so that mine don’t eat these little buggers. I am very dissapointed with my neighbor about this. I now have their 26 tadpoles and my 31 to care for. I don’t even think they were feeding them daily or anything either. Most of them float upside down and I can see their intenstines (I don’t know if I spelled that right). How can I buff them up so they don’t die? I fed them fish food and salamander bites that sink to the bottom which is what I have been feeding mine and I don’t have any more lettuce to give them. It was even a shock for me to have lettuce in my house but I was on a salad binge for a few weeks so I just happened to have some left for them. Any suggestions? I am keeping them outside just until it starts to rain tonight and then I will birng them in and put them out tomorrow, they need the light I am guessing since that is what I read somewhere on caring for them. I was told on here on another thread I started on identifying them for me that they are wood frogs if that helps anyone in suggestions for me. Anything that I am not doing that I should be? Thanks for listening (reading) as this is pretty long.

I also forgot to add that the ones I got from the neighbors today are swimming upside down and all crazy in circles and stuff which I don’t remember mine doing. We fished them out of his pond on Memorial Day. I just figured his would grow like mine but the environment seems to be a key factor on their growth.

I can’t believe... They sound disoriented, maybe from lack of oxygen...you were doing water changes every few days, which added oxygen to the water by disturbing it, whereas their’s seemed to just be sitting stagnant, not moving at all, which is bad for tadpoles. For now, try some water changes, not full changes because that could shock them, but some small ones that’ll get rid of waste and get the water moving a little.
The food you’re using sounds great, that’s what I used to use with my tadpoles too.
The way you’re raising your tadpoles sounds like it’s working really well, so I say to just continue what you’re doing with these new guys and hope for the best.
Good luck.

Awesome thank you for your response. I did change their water and they are doing much better. I had them sitting in the sun for about 2 hours and they seemed to calm down and now they seem to be much better, not moving much at all now. I will take care of them the same as I did my others and just hope I saved them just in the nick of time. I guess some people have what it takes to care for and raise tadpoles and others don’t. I hope to say all 26 make it to the pond out front. I will keep everyone updated on these little guys. I will change their water every few days and hope all the yuckys get out of there. I have them in a tupperware dish in very shallow water right now on the kitchen counter so the cat doesn’t get a hold of them and once the other 31 get the rest of their legs they will go to the pond and the other 26 will go in their aquarium on my dining room table.
