 My swift loves to go under the sand and hide. Is this natural?

My swift, Bobert, loves to go under the sand in his cadge. But do all swifts do this?

Yes swift are hiding in the ground and they also give birth to their eggs in the ground.But you should not user sand because there is too many bacteria that can develop in it and its dangerous if they eat it.But i thing itís important to respect the fact that they hide underground and you should buy some substract that look like compost specyaly made for reptiles and clean it very often.Or you can also a fake grass carpet and put a plate whit sand in it that you can clean easely.
