Getting a spider- what setup do I use?

Hi, I’m in TX and I’m getting one of those huge garden spiders, probably a nocturnal one, but who knows.
I am going to a forest area, and there’s a beach, we are gonna stay in my grandparents lake house for a few days. So do I do a half sand half dirt setup?

And since I’m In TX,
Which spiders would be good and easy to find? I want an active spider , even if its nocturnal. I do NOT want a jumping spider。
I also want a bigger species, but not a tarantula. Thanks!

Alright. I’ve already got that. But if the biome is sandy and forest like... Should i do half in half?

sand isnt a very good substrate, but its your pet. try testing out each for a little while and then switch to whichever one works best

Getting a spider: one last question

Thank You so much! I’ve decided to catch a Wolf Spider, they’re my favorite type!
So my question is: how big do the adults get? I want to know the approximate size for ones found in Texas/Oklahoma so I know the size of food to feed them.
I’ll post a pic of the new setup when done. Thanks agin!

Getting a spider: one last question

Thank you SOOO much! I’ll post a pic of my wolf spider when I find one. I’m going to my town park which has dozens of trails, one of which is by a creek! That’s probably where I’m gonna look for my wolf spider, so im hoping that I find one. Honestly, I’ve found huge spiders there, so I’ll be happy with the spider I get!
I’ve decided to make a cave out of modeling clay, and I’ll post a picture of it when it’s complete.
Again, thanks so much!
